Stephan R. Leimberg, JD is our opening keynote speaker. Mr. Leimberg is CEO of Leimberg Information Services, Inc., an e-mail and database service providing information and commentary on tax cases, rulings, and legislation for financial services professionals, CEO of Leimberg and LeClair, Inc., an estate and financial planning software company, and President of Leimberg Associates, Inc., a publishing company.

Deena Katz, CFP® is an Associate Professor in the Personal Financial Planning Division at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas. She is also a partner of Evensky & Katz, a wealth management firm, located in Coral Gables, Florida. She is an internationally recognized financial advisor and practice management expert and the author of six books on financial planning and practice management topics. Her book, Retirement Redesigned, has just received an Axiom Business Book Award for 2008. Ms. Katz served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Retirement Planning, and has been a contributing writer for Financial Advisor, Investment Advisor, Financial Planning Magazine, and National Underwriter. Currently, she is a columnist for Financial Planning Magazine.

Working with Moss Adams, LLP, Ms. Katz has served as a consultant to many companies within the financial services industry including institutional custodians and brokers, money managers, and insurance companies.

Ms. Katz was one of the first advisors named as Financial Planning Magazine's "Movers and Shakers" for 2001 and 2008, as well as one of Accounting Today's Top Ten Names to Know in Financial Planning, in 2001 and 2002. She has been on the Investment Advisor's .Most Influential People in the Industry for the past five out of six years, including the current one. She has been included on the Worth Magazine's List of top financial advisers numerous times. She is frequently quoted by major national news media, and has made various television appearances on local and national network programs for CBS, ABC, and PBS.

She is a nationally recognized speaker in the United States. She has also been called upon by global financial services organizations to speak at international financial forums held in various locations including Australia, Canada, Japan, England, India, Ireland, Singapore, New Zealand, Malaysia, and South Africa.

Ms. Katz is on the National Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association, immediate past member of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for Financial Planning, and past member of the Advisory Board for Fidelity Research, and in 2007 served as an advisor to the Comptroller of the State of Texas on their college funding plans.

Ms. Katz topic is Client Communications and Behavior. Managing client expectations is a critical aspect to any advisory relationship. Deena Katz addresses the fine art of effective communication with clients, using behavioral finance tools and techniques to address unexpressed expectations as well as manage client behavior, ensuring successful ongoing, long-term relationships.



Robert F. Carey, CFA, is our closing speaker for this year's Symposium. He has over 22 years of experience as an Equity and Fixed-Income Analyst and is a recipient of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

As Chief Investment Officer of First Trust, Mr. Carey and his staff have the responsibility to supervise over $30 billion in assets in closed-end funds, separate managed accounts, unit investment trusts, variable annuity sub-accounts and exchange-traded funds.

Mr. Carey has appeared throughout the United States and Canada as a guest on television and radio programs. These programs include: Bloomberg TV, CNBC and Canada's Business News Network and on Chicago's WBBM Newsradio 780's Noon Business Hour. He has been quoted by several publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Wall Street Reporter, Bloomberg News Service, and Registered Rep.

Mr. Carey's topic "2008 Market Update ... Perception Meets Reality" covers today's big issue, bull market underpinnings, S&P comparison (then and now) and a 2008 outlook.
