Fostering Trust:
The Committee will work toward the common vision.  Each member has a responsibility to contribute to this goal and communicate results to the committee.

Vision:
To help the media recognize the value of the financial planning process as a way to achieve personal and financial goals and dreams. As competent and ethical professionals, FPA members will become recognized, respected and sought by the general public as well as by other professionals for financial advice and services.

Developing Strategies:
  1. Focus on primary media outlets. Make personal introduction (one-on-one lunches to start) to the media contact. This person is someone who is able to disseminate the purpose and vision of the Financial Planning Profession. Continue to nurture that relationship on a regular monthly basis, in a creative way, and to build integrity with the writer or reporter.
  2. To coordinate the dissemination of press releases, financial news and other information between national and local news outlets. Submit appropriate news releases to Executive Director and PR firm as needed.
  3. Respond to bad articles or untruths. Must be done promptly and by credible person who should know reporter personally.
  4. To encourage and develop new media contacts as time permits after #1.
  5. Write articles for the newsletter when appropriate to publicize the PR activities.
  6. Attend monthly board meetings, chapter meetings, and chapter activities.
  7. Attend the regional conference.
  8. Promote Financial Planning week through media.

Energizing Alliances:
We will promote and facilitate contacts with CPAs and attorneys to discuss common interests and common goals to promote FPA members as a resource for professional financial services.
